Cotinus Coggygria (Smoketree) Extract

Cotinus coggygria also called purple smoke tree, smoke bush tree, is a multiple-branching shrub from the Anacardiaceaeis family. It’s not only an excellent ornamental tree species but also has good medicinal uses. Fisetin is a structurally distinct chemical substance that belongs to the flavonoid group of polyphenols, which appears as a brown to yellow powder. It is extracted from bark, branch, and leaf of Cotinus Coggygria(Smoketree, source from China), also found in certain foods such as apples, strawberries and other natural foods.

Fisetin powder is a naturally occurring flavonol and has been found effective for skin disorders such as wounds, swelling and burning. Although preclinical studies suggest that fisetin might increase cognitive performance and protect against Alzheimer’s disease, but no human research has been conducted. Fisetin is also an antioxidant nutrient that has demonstrated a high level of nerve and brain protection along with boosting memory and new nerve cell growth. It has been shown to enhance the gene function of nerve cells involved with memory. It enhanced memory in mice by increasing activation of a specific transcription factor, the CAMP response element-binding protein. This transcription factor is involved in the physical changes in the brain associated with sustaining long-term memory.
