What’s Rutin

Rutin was a kind of vitamin “P”(Permeability), originally derived from lemon and generally existed together with vitamin C in the human body, also known as bioflavonoids. As a typical flavonoid, Rutin almost can be found in all rurutin and Ericaceae plants, especially in rutaceae, citrus fruits and buckwheat and Chinese sophora trees. Clinically, rutin can maintain and restore vascular elasticity, reduce capillary permeability and promote cell growth due to its anti-inflammation and antioxidant property. Therefore, rutin is also called “natural progesterone”.

Rutin is a diglycoside (glucose and rhamnose) formed by the combination of the hydroxyl group at the C3 position of quercetin and rutin sugar. Rutin powder is yellowish green or light yellow crystal powder, bitter taste, easy to deteriorate when exposed to light. It often contains three water of crystallization, melting point of 177 ~ 178℃, 255℃ decomposition. It is soluble in hot water, ethanol, pyridine and alkaline solutions. Rutin is composed of C27H30O16.3H2O and contains 5-hydroxyl flavone and o-dihydroxyl structure. It can form compounds with different coordination numbers with a variety of metal ions, which can be used in medicine, health care products, cosmetics and other fields. Do you know how does it extract and what is rutin powder good for?

How Is Rutin Extracted?

The purification of rutin is a complicated process. As a drug of plant origin, rutin carries a large number of plant impurities in the extraction process. Most of these impurities can be easily removed in the purification process, but some of them have similar solubility to rutin. Rutin is usually extracted by alkali extraction and acid precipitation method. Sophora japonica is first dissolved in water by alkali to form a salt, then acid is added to make it free and precipitated, and then recrystallized to get pure rutin. This kind of heated extraction usually has some hydrolytic products, and the yield is low (generally 9% ~ 13%). Now there are extraction and purification methods were applied with have higher extraction efficiency and easier operation and lower cost, such as microwave-assisted extraction, ultrasonic radiation, hot water extraction and macroporous adsorption resin purification, hot water alcohol in the acid precipitation, cold alkali extracted diacolation – acid precipitation, continuous reflux extraction, ethanol extraction, supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, enzyme alkali extraction, etc.

Benefits of Rutin Powder

Other rutin benefits include increased arterial wall elasticity, which helps increase blood flow. This, in turn, can help alleviate multiple health problems, including varicose veins, spider veins, and hemorrhoids. In addition to these benefits, rutin has been shown to decrease fasting glucose levels. This may be beneficial for people with diabetes or those who want to maintain a normal blood sugar level.

Because rutin inhibits the PDI enzyme, it is an effective treatment for osteoarthritis, a disease in which cartilage gradually wears away in joints. Researchers have shown that rutin blocks the enzyme that causes osteoarthritis in the affected area. This compound is combined with bromelain, which is derived from pineapples. This combination may help patients with osteoarthritis. It may also reduce symptoms of hemorrhoids and varicose veins.

Other rutin benefits include reducing blood pressure and preventing cardiovascular disease. In addition, rutin helps prevent hypertension. It is also a good antioxidant and has been used for centuries to treat Meniere’s syndrome. It has also been proven to help improve the condition of people with intermittent hearing loss and reduce the risk of strokes. The compound is a natural food additive with a variety of health benefits. It has been used for centuries as a treatment for meniere’s disease.

Research has shown that rutin can also reduce the risk of dangerous blood clots. A study of rats showed that rutin significantly decreased fasting glucose levels, a sign that it might be beneficial for people with diabetics. In addition, the effects of rutin on the heart are more modest. Taking a daily supplement of rutin has several benefits, including reduced blood pressure and arterial blockage. It may also reduce your risk of heart disease.  If your blood vessels are weak, a regular supplement of rutin can improve your life. However, it is still necessary to consult a doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Rutin is a also strong natural antioxidant, it neutralizes free radicals and protects your body against diseases. Free radicals turn LDL cholesterol into plaque, which blocks the arteries and prevents normal blood flow.   In addition to being a natural antioxidant, rutin promotes a healthy metabolism. Those with metabolic syndrome also have high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and visceral fat. While rutin can be beneficial to your health, it is important to consult a doctor before adding it to your diet.   Inflammation is a big cause of disease, so preventing it with rutin is essential for your overall health.
